Director of See Britain, Rob Jones, was invited to the Chinese Tourism Industry Leaders Dinner at Imperial China, Chinatown in London on the 5th November.
In attendance were representatives from other companies who are showing successful strides in catering to the Chinese Tourism Industry such as Lake Windermere, Bicester Village and Kew Gardens, to name a few. The evening was organised by China Travel Outbound, a Travel Industry PR agency based in Brighton, and Capela Training, a company who offer training days to those wishing to learn about how to cater to Chinese customers. With guest speaker Professor Wolfgang Georg Arlt, from the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute (COTRI), the evening was informative, interesting, and valuable.
The main topic of conversation was the rise of the Chinese Free and Independent Traveller (FIT), and how to effectively market to them. Vivenne Song, Account Director from China Travel Outbound gave her insights on what strategies to take to get the best results from Chinese FITs.
This dinner was in build-up to the World Travel Market at the ExCeL from 6-8th November. Among the hundreds if not thousands of travel companies exhibiting there, we met with various UK-based companies that may work well with See Britain. We are always on the lookout for new ventures to take, and are constantly building our list of experiences, accommodations, and transport companies, to provide the best possible experience to our Chinese customers.
After three days of meeting these companies, listening to informative talks and the occasional coffee break at WTM, we now prepare for our trade mission to China in Mid-November.
